There are three main kinds of tracks for 1/64 scale.
The most popular of these is the AFX track. The AFX track is the narrowest of them all which can create a problem of crashing into the car beside you if it is too big or a tyre is sticking out to far.
The TYCO track is the most practical one of them all as it is wide and gives space for a fairer race.
I'm still gathering info on the third track and will get back to you on that.
If you are thinking of making or racing on a track you will need to secure it on a board so it wont get wrecked or damaged, to do this there are small holes on each piece of track that can be used for screw holes to secure the track to the board. I recommend that you do not have any loops or jumps as it makes it very hard to race and can create many problems especially for a beginner. To get the best performance out of your slot car track, we recommend that you should solder each piece of track together with quite heavy wire to prevent voltage and currant drop. We also recommend that you run your track on 14 volts and as many amps as you can, the higher the better. If your amperage is to low the cars will slow down and stop occasionally, the minimum that I would recommend would be around 1 amp.
