For those who might be interested I am still a resident of the mountain town of Canmore, Alberta, Canada.

My spare time is spent hiking, biking and scrambling. The Bow Valley is a seemingly endless Mountain Playground.

I have been working on a new version of the sspft TCP crypto tunnel which I wrote quite a while ago. The new one, when finished, will compile natively under Linux and Windows. It will have a nice GUI under Windows, a nice text interface under Linux and possibly a nice GUI under Linux too.

After living in the Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario area to attend the University of Waterloo and then programming for one and one half years in Calgary, Alberta (cow town) I had become quite sick of city life. In the fall of 2002 I packed my stuff in a rental car and headed to Canmore.

When I moved out to Canmore I was not in good physical condition. I went to Positive People Placement and asked for physically demanding work. The next thing I knew I was swinging sledge hammers and hauling gypsum for a living.

During the winter of 2002-2003 I spent much of my spare time hiking. When Summer 2003 finally came around I started getting into scrambling. I also spent quite a bit of the summer biking. My longest trip was from Canmore to Calgary and back two days later.

For the winter of 2003 I decided to try living in the coastal mountains of British Columbia. After reducing my belongings to three hockey bags and a backpack I headed for the coast on a Greyhound. When I got there I found an economy in shambles. It seemed that the only work to be had on the coast was in the cities. Though Vancouver was probably the most beautiful city I have ever seen (neck and neck with Boston) living in a city is still not something I want to do.
