Surprisingly, Dave and I have still maintain contact.  Not quite so surprisingly, he still refuses to refund me.  I have made requests for the name and contact information for his legal representation but he refuses to provide me with this information too.  Some time ago we had an exchange of emails discussing my refund and the status of his business.  I had agreed not to post these on my site.  I will, of course, abide by this previous agreement (despite all that has transpired).  However, this most recent exchange of emails were not sent under the same "gentleman's" agreement and are posted HERE.  It is difficult to determine exactly what kind of game Dave is playing other than avoiding returning my money.  Which, ultimately, is all I am really concerned about.

Interesting note:
Dave Scott is quite aware that he has NOT paid back all his debts and he is showing -- at least to me -- that he has no intention to do so.

Dave emailed me today asking if I would accept a PayPal payment for the money owed to me and, if I would, to provide the information and electronically 'sign' that once said amount has been received, I would be owed nothing more by Slanted Fedora.  I replied, agreed and provided all relevant information.
After receiving my email, he responded with another of his own stating that he would, indeed, NOT be paying me the money owed to me and claimed that this was at the advice of his 'attorney'.

This exchange of emails
(that can be read here) make me seriously believe that this is just a game to him and that he and his business practices seriously lack honour and integrity.  Before all this, I was still willing to consider that there had been some 'mistake'.

I have sent an email to Dave Scott giving him two, definitive options regarding my refund.  He has apparently chosen to officially refuse to repay me.
Please see the
'emails' page to see the most recent letter I sent him.

On May 8, 2003, I took a chance and ordered a VHS of the 35th anniversary convention from Slanted Fedora.  I emailed them frequently to inquire as to its status but never received a reply.  It must be stated that, although to date I have still received no response or indication of intent to refund my money for the cancelled conventions, I have just today received the video cassette I ordered.  It did take 3 months to arrive but the important thing is that it finally came.
Does this mean there is still hope for everybody's refunds?  Let's hope.  However, I have not received one email to date from anyone defending this company or stating that they have been paid what is owed to them.

Two weeks have passed and I have still not spoken to Dave Scott or anyone from Slanted Fedora Entertainment and have received no further emails, phone messages, snail mail or, most importantly, my refund.
I have however, collected quite a few personal experiences through this site.  The vast majority of them being quite similar to my own.
I have just sent a large 'package' to the Kansas Attorney General.  This package includes copies of my credit card statement showing the billings, confirmation of my tickets, dates for each of the calls I have attempted to Dave Scott, copies of the faxes I have sent and the confirmation receipts, copies of the emails I have sent, a report from the Better Business Bureau and, of course, a summary of my situation and experience with Slanted Fedora and a link to this site.

In the interest of maintaining an objective account of my situation, it should be known that Dave Scott from Slanted Fedora Entertainment has just now contacted me through this site and has expressed a desire to relate to me his side of the story and has also requested my 'complete' personal information to "verify identity".
As my primary goal is to receive my refund and resolve this situation, I have complied and
again forwarded my information (name, address and phone number) to him.

I am anticipating a call to discuss and hopefully resolve the issue of my refund.
(Perhaps we will be able to just call this all a big 'misunderstanding').
OR... will he now permanently remove me from a 'potential' refund list???
