Rural Watercolors

Biographical Information

: I have been painting and drawing since I was 10 years old. When other kids were out playing baseball, football or basketball, I was in my room working on another art project. Either a painting or a clay sculpture. I have always loved the arts and was able to appreciate art from a very early age. Things of beauty always stood out to me as something to enjoy. I would go for walks in the woods and take my sketch book and record what I saw on my walks. My formal training in art consisted of one year of art in high school and one year of studying with Nell Johnson of LaGrange, Georgia. Ms Johnson was the single most important influence on my art. She taught me how to really see what was before me, not just the overall but, the little details that are easily overlooked. The painting to the right is one of my most recent paintings. It is an entryway on main street in Clearsprings,Md. that caught my eye.

My newest watercolors: Since moving to Maryland I've haven't had as much time to paint as I would like but, I have been able to turn out a few paintings. I seem to find myself working on projects to improve the farm most of the time but, alas, it needs doing. The farm is so beautiful and is getting more so with every project we complete. As of late the project "to do" list is getting smaller so hopefully soon I will be able to concentrate more on my art. We shall see.
