Spring
Spring is delightful in Davis almost every year. Temperatures are typically in the 70's and 80's, and most days are sun-filled. The longer days are appreciated after the short days of winter. Strong winds can develop in the region in springtime, particularly in March and April. North winds, wind blowing from north to south, are the strongest. Tree branches break and sometimes block roads or fall on power lines, causing an occasional power outage. After a day or two, the wind diminishes and everyone can relax.
However, spring is the major allergy season, with the pollen count highest at this time of year. This is the season for kite flying when there are gentle winds. The mild, sunny weather in late spring is ideal for the many festivals and events held in Davis this time of year.
