The city of Durr�s stands out as a magnificence and iridescent luster in western Albania. The city is located on the central Albanian coast about 33 km or 20 miles west of the capital Tirana. It is situated at one of the narrower points of the Adriatic Sea. The city of Durr�s is the second largest city of Albania. According to the national Census of 2003, it has population of 114 000; the surrounding villages bust the population to 180 000 people. By the year 2010, the population in the city is projected to rise to 120 000. The entire population speaks fluently the Albanian language. Most of the citizens speak other languages such as English, German, French, Italian, and other languages. The citizens of Durr�s are people with a strong moral inherited from ancient Illyrians. Since ancient time, they facilitated the mutual respect based on canon laws oriented towards fishing, hunting, and gathering for defense. They lived free with respect to equal rights for everyone.  They shared a similar life-style and in mutual cooperation have solved hard and difficult issues in the life. Thousands years old tradition of tolerance in religion and other aspects of the life resulted into prosperity and growth. The  Mosques and Catholic and Orthodox churches are standing in close proximity to each other. There was never one appeal of misunderstanding, but a respect and celebration of all the religious costumes in the city. The people are cheerful and hospitable. If there is one thing, however, that characterizes Durr�s; it is the deep, contagious passion for life reflected in its friendly, welcoming people. The Port of Durr�s is located at the north end of the Bay of Durr�s or Gjiri i Durr�sit, an extensive body of water entered between Kala e Turr�s and Cape Durr�s or Kepi i Durr�sit. Cape Durr�s is located approximately 1 nmi west of the Port of Durr�s.Durr�s is also home to the largest concentration of international banks in Albania. Durr�s is an ideal city to organize a successful business incentive trip. The coastal area is extremely rich in terms of biodiversity, providing livelihoods for people of Durr�s. The sandy beaches are known for healing of the bone disesases such as avascular necrosis of bone, osteomyelitis, osteomalacia, arthritis, osteoporosis, and other bone diseases. The clean air and healthy climate are beneficial for the treatment of cardiovascular, neurological, abdominal and gastrointestinal, long diseases, and other diseases. A specialized rehabilitation hospital has been operating in the city; and numerous holiday making facilities and villas have been built to accommodate the tourists. The region has been known from Roman times as a curative and rehabilitation centre.
The city is in a fertile region in which farming is eminent since the beginning of time. The local farms produce corn, grain, sugar beets, and tobacco. The local farms have the best livestock and produce the best dairy products in Balkans.  Durr�s has highly developed biochemical factories, agricultural machinery, cigarette factory, radio and television stations, and it is an important commercial and communications center serving central Albania. The city has a power plant, a dockyard, and factories producing bricks, cigarettes, leather products, and soap. Exports include grain, hides, minerals, and tobacco. The region contains substantial oil and gas reserves and supports a range of large-scale commercial to small-scale artisanal fisheries using traditional methods. Threats to the region include over-exploitation of resources, illegal foreign fishing as well as marine pollution, and degradation of coastal habitats.
The city has a good transportation system. There are busses traveling to other cities, and local busses traveling to surrounding villages. The taxi services are available 24 hours. The city is linked by rail with Tirana, Elbasan, and other cities. There are more than ten trains a day from and to Tirana. One can take the journey by train from Durr�s to Tirana for the token charge of 50 lek or $ 0.40 USD. Durr�s is not far from main Airport of Rinas. It takes 30 to 40 minutes travel time.  Durres maintains regular ship and ferryboat connections with Italian ports of Bari, Brindisi, Ancona, and Trieste. The city has park almost in every neighborhood fully equipped with fire, police station; the city workers in team work provide answers to residents and visitors for the City services. There are parking available, and Durr�s Parking Authority provides convenient, affordable, and safe parking throughout the city. There is a lot of parking, and there is always available parking spot to park the car.
The city of Durr�s is home to Albania's newest public university, the Aleksander Moisiu University. It offers bachalor degree in business management and administration. It is using a similar American Sytem of Education. There are several libraries in the city. The culltural center, the Aleksander Moisiu theater, the Estrada theater, the Puppet theater, and the philharmonic orchestra entertains every spirit in town. The Archaeological Museum and the Museum of History are primary targets for visitors.
