| Team Diva (website) is a all Women's Synchronized Ski Team. We are from the Aspen Ski and Snowboard Schools in Colorado. Click on Photos to enlarge Divas on top of the Whistler Gondola 2001 Team Diva has competed in the Battle of the Ski Schools, World Synchronized Skiing Championships 4 times with one First place finish and 3 second place results in the Women's division.
So what is synchronized skiing? Eight people ski down a slope in (obviously) synchronized formations. The patterns change during the descent to make for some very interesting designs. It requires great focus and concentration to know your part and who appears close to you as we sometimes pass each other by mere inches. It's a terrific amount of fun and I especially love to watch the other team's choreography. The 2001 Competition was held in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada for the first time. Previously, it had always been in Vail, Colorado, USA.
My participation I have proudly been on the team for three years now, since 1999. The first year, I made the team as an alternate. The team consists of 9 skiers with one person sitting out each pass to make 8 skiers in a figure. In 2000, I was a key member of the team and was ready to compete in both the regional Championships held that spring in Aspen and the Worlds' held in Vail. Unfortunately, I broke my leg in team training just weeks before competing. After a long recovery period and missing an entire South American season, I nervously tried out for the team again in 2001. I made the team and ended up skiing in every figure, even as second lead in two figures. It was an incredible experience for me to come back so strong after my injury and I am so grateful to my coaches and team members for their support. On top of Whistler and feeling on top of the world
