Anti-Aging Rating: 1 out of 5 Overall Impression: Very Poor Review Lancome was one of the original high-end lines that first started in Europe primarily in the cosmetic field. As they grew they expanded into skin care/anti-aging products, maintaining the same high-end, exclusive image. They have been quite successful in department stores where they are considered the upper crust of lines typically in such retail outlets. Unfortunately, many of their products seem to be more just marketing than actually effective, according to our reviewers at least. Reviewers have reported mostly neutral effects (i.e. no change) and some adverse effects such as redness or breaking out. The science on the website also seems to be dubious. For instance, the Lancome Platineum Night cream contains a revolutionary calcium complex claiming that calcium depletion from age can cause skin to lose density and tightness. This is a very shakey claim as aged skin is deficient of virtually everything compared to youthful skin, not just calcium. And there are many other things that the skin should be supplemented with that do not seem to be present in this product (though without a published ingredients list this is difficult to assess). Typical Price Range Up to $135 for a face product and up to $80 for an eye-area product. Website www.lancome-usa.com Similar Lines La Mer, Darphin |
