Anti-Aging Rating: 1.5 out of 5 Overall Impression: Very Poor Review Many people first heard of La Mer when a TV special that mentioned the line was aired in 2003. It was an expos� on skin care products that were more hype than effects. They had an undercover camera follow a woman to the beauty counter of a major department store where she bought the Cr�me de la Mer product (which is La Mer's original formula that was the first high-end skin care product to retail in the triple digits). She then used the product for a month on half of her face and her progress was tracked on camera. By the end of the month they gave her an opinion evluation of whether she felt there was any visible benefit to using this product after a month of regular application and also a more accurate computerized evaluation that scanned her face to measure wrinkle depth, skin irregularities, and sagging. Both the computerized test and the woman's own personal evaluation turned up with no significant change in her skin after using this product for a month. It is not surprising then that La Mer (which was bought out by Estee Lauder) does not publish ingredients lists for their products on their website. The "key ingredients" that they do mention do not possess any properties that warrant the price point these products are retailed at. The website does a very nice job of discussing how it�s not so much the ingredients but the biofermentation process and how they are blended that makes them so effective. But they seemed to have forgot to put up a clinical studies section that actually makes mention of any real science about how all this effects the skin and proves any tangible results. In other words, if hope can be bottled then this is it. Typical Price Range Up to $285 for a face product and up to $125 for an eye-area product.
