Nude HikingWalking anywhere naked presents a new challenge, especially if we are following trails that are open to the public. It is always best to find a trail that is seldom used or else go hiking at a time when there will not be anyone about. It is a good idea to carry our clothes as a reasonable hike may cover a number of miles and take several hours to complete. Good planning is essential. Purchasing good quality maps to get an overview of the area and walking the route clothed first to get a 'feel' for it can save a lot of embarrassment later. Planning what to wear is also important - yes, even for nude recreation clothing is important! Unless you are fortunate enough to be able to set off from your home without clothes and walk for several miles without seeing anyone, then, you will need to wear clothes to get to and from your chosen location. It is never our aim to offend anyone or to appear threatening or frightening to other users of the countryside. Therefore, the method of carrying our clothes and the ability to cover up quickly are important considerations. Obviously, the less we wear the easier it will be, but we try not to wear so little that we draw attention to ourselves before we have even started. Light weight clothes will be easier to carry and can be folded smaller. Also where speed is important, excessive buttons and fasteners are a waste of time and underwear is completely useless. It should be possible wear only one or two items of clothing and still look reasonable. Our choice of footwear is also important. It may not be possible to go bare foot for the entire distance or we may not want to. A good idea is to practice dressing and undressing without having to stop to remove shoes, or wearing shoes that slip on and off easily. I usually find that sandals with shorts and a tee-shirt serves the purpose. Where to go is the next consideration. Many people get more daring as they become more experienced but generally the quieter and more secluded a place is the safer it will be. Look for cover. Trees can provide good hiding places but they can also prevent you from seeing who is coming. Often you don't have to go very far to find somewhere suitable but the time of day or the day of the week can make a big difference to how popular a place is. Some places are quieter during the week while people are at work while other places are quieter at weekends because most people are away from work. The time of day makes a big difference and some places are only ever quiet in the very early hours of the morning. Once you find a place you will want to go there again but try not to establish a regular pattern as this could lead to you getting caught or becoming careless in checking the place out. Lookout for other footprints or signs of activity. Listen out for sounds that might alert you to another presence and if you do meet someone don't panic. The worst thing you can do is panic as this implies some sort of guilt and may make you appear more of a threat to the other person. Try to cover up and if it is too late apologise and move on. |
