Accounts That Might Help
1.my personal account...
i went to see a plastic surgeon at HUKM,cheras ...got 8 jabs of kenacort (a corticosteroid)to flatten the keloids.in the first week it swelled and itched a little and i thought it'd never go down..but it did later subside until it flattened..
the plastic surgeon did a good job on it...was gentle and it wasnt as pain as i thought it've been. particularly also because my keloids were small...i remembered him asking an intern to prepare a needle...and when she did...he said it was too big and asked for a finer needle.
the bigger the keloid, the more painful the jab was
he told me laser isnt for keloids or hypertropic scars, that it could only remove scars like spider veins..it wouldnt help keloids or stretchmarks at all..
as for my stretchmarks,he said i'd have to live with them.
i asked him if the steroid injections could cause strechmarks...he said it wouldn't as he's only giving me a small dose...and he did..stopped at 8 injections..and said..that's enough for today'.
so now i'm left with keloids that're flattened but still red...he did explain that to me before the procedure and i agreed to go on with it.
if u have bigger scars u might have to go for follow ups one month later

2.from other people...
Hi,
Read your diaries, I'm a keloid sufferer as well for the past 10
years.
Tried many creams/gels/chinese medicine but none works in flattening
the
scar, it merely controls the growth. I tried cortisone/or steroid jabs
initially but couldn't stand the pain although it works brilliantly. I
didn't give up and kept switching doctors until I found a
dermatologist in
KL who's good and I'm very happy with the results so far.
Noticed that you're from Malaysia, and if you're in KL the
dermatologist's
clinic is at
136 Jalan Imbi,
it's called Dr Ting Skin & Laser Clinic.
He
charged me RM50 for each treatment, and in one treatment he will cover
as
many scars as possible with one dosage. In my case it can be as many
as 10
jabs. If all your scars are small then most probably all will be
covered in
one treatment. For bigger scars it'll require a number of jabs at the
same spot
Sounds painful, but not as bad. If you can't stand the pain, you can
buy a
local anaesthetic cream called
EMLA
from him which cost about RM20 per
tube
which can last for about 5 treatments, depending on the size of your
scar.
Don't give up, I felt depressed about my scars before, but now I just
keep
focussing on getting rid of it to motivate myself. I've been going for
these
treatment since the past 6 months, some of the smaller scars (less
than 1
cm
long) are completely flat now. I had never achieved that kind of
results
with cica -care/mederma/kelo-cote/elicina/jamu shop to name a few.
.........
Well, I think the doctor in HUKM has done a good job on your scars. My
flatten scars are red too, but fading to pink. According to my doc it
will
fade away in time, unfortunately donno how long. I can ask him at my
next
visit whether laser will help in reducing the redness, since this doc
can
also perform laser treatment. I have also liased thru emails with a
few
keloid sufferers and share information. The latest that I read is that
there
is this product called haelan tape (brandname typharm) that can have
the
same effect as steroid injection. Been searching the net for a
reseller but
I can't find one yet. In the meantime, if you have any questions just
email
to me and I'll to get the answers from my doc. It seems that he is one
of
the best dermatologist in Malaysia... hope so
................
I did a laser on my freckle bfore with him, it cost me
RM100
for 1 which is abt half cm long. I think it should be around that much.
will update you when i got the info.
