About This Site
This site was created by Sarah Leonard, a senior at the University of Michigan.  It was created for the Winter 2003 semester for Professor Emily Lawsin's Women's Studies 342 course, "Feminist Practice of Oral History."  In this course, students conduct an oral history interview with a woman over the age of 40. They then transcribe the interview and have the option to write a research paper or create a project based on the interview.

Mrs. Casey's interivew took place on February 1, 2003, and lasted for two hours and fifty-four minutes.  The interview was tape recorded and videotaped, then transcribed.  This website was the creative project which resulted from the transcripts.

The quotations on each page were taken from the transcripts and represent what I feel are the strongest points of the narrative.  I have divided this site into the areas that I feel have been most prevalent in Mrs. Casey's life.  I selected the photos based on the quotations and content of each page.  For example, the photos on the Peace page of Gandhi and British planes represent Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence and the air force bases that Mrs. Casey has protested.
