INTRODUCTION

History of
St. John Ambulance of Malaysia

The St. John Ambulance movement was founded in the then Malaya in 1908. It is a voluntary organization committed to serving the community and to the training of men and women in First Aid and Home Nursing.

During the Second World War our members wore assigned to serve in the Medical Service. Many of these are still active in our movement today.

The present St. John Ambulance Malaysia is a merger between the former St. John Ambulance Brigade of West Malaysia, Sabah & Sarawak and the St. John Ambulance Association of West Malaysia, Sabah & Sarawak under the St. John 19mbulance Malaysia (incorporation) Act, 1972 which was passed by the Malaysian Parliament in that year.

The St. John Ambulance Malaysia is governed by the Council working under the St. John Ambulance rules, 1973. The President of the Council is the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Deputy President is the Minister for Health.

In order to keep in pace with the rapid development of our country's industrial, business and tourism sectors, which has indirectly lead to on increase in the number of accidents, St. John Ambulance Malaysia is playing a leading role in educating the general public on accident preventive measures, safety precautions, and First Aid.

Our 60,000 members throughout Malaysia also serve the community by rendering first aid and home nursing services. In certain areas, we also run ambulance services. Recently we have expanded into providing hemodialysis services to poor kidney failure patients in Selangor, Penang, Malacca and Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur.

As the demand for our services has increased tremendously, we urgently need your generous financial support. You con be assured that the money is for a v" worthy cause. Therefore, we sincerely invite you to be our Sponsor to support our work. With your generous contributions, we can continue with our service in caring for our community.
