Saint John Ambulance Brigade,
Division # 1052
Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

"Serving Nova scotia for just over 10 years"
History of the Yarmouth Brigade

The Saint John Ambulance Brigade in Yarmouth, N.S. was formed in March of 1996 with 6 members that had passed their annual testing. Since that time they have gained new members and lost some members, but they all had a good time in the division. Due to the new requirements to be a member, and a lack of people willing or able to be certified as First Responders, the division folded in May of 2006 (with little to no thanks for the 10 years we'd put into this division, from head office).

While active, they had provided many hours of duty at many different events such as:
  • The 2000 Acadian Games, (French Website) in the Argyle Municipality,
  • The 2002 Acadian Games, in the Argyle Municipality,
  • 4X4 Rallys in Yarmouth & Digby Counties,
  • 4 Wheeler Rallys in Yarmouth County,
  • Baseball tournaments throughout Yarmouth county,

  • Every year members of Saint John Ambulance brigade's would pass their annual testing, as required to remain proficient within the Brigade. If you do not pass this test, called a BAP (Brigade Assesment Program), then you could not do First Aid by yourself in uniform.

All members of the Yarmouth brigade had their Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C. They kept their skills current by continuously reviewing their skills at their meetings. Some of the members also had training with as Certified First Responders, but their certificates had expired before the division folded. Some also had training with STARS. Occasionally we also did training with the local paramedics that work for Emergency Health Services Nova Scotia. Some members had taken a Controlling Aggression and Crisis Intervention course too. Some members are also members of their local fire department and also have other additional training.

If you would like Saint John ambulance to cover your event and are somewhere in Nova Scotia,
please call 1-800-565-5056 and request the services of the division nearest to you.
