Wumpscut - Bone Peeler (2004) Reviewed on 12/16/04

Good

Nation: Germany

Album Genre: Industrial/Goth Electronica

Pros: While not a big fan of electronic music as a whole, I am a big fan of atmospherically powerful music, and Wumpscut - Bone Peeler really suck every last inch of their instruments to give a deep, moody feel. By the time I got to "Just a Tenderness", the second song on the album, I really just had this strong urge to flick the lights out, lay down on my bed, and soak in this really cool sound. Rudy Ratzinger, the lone musician of the band, formulates his music into a creative dark, yet soothing ambience that really drags you in from the beginning. The best way I can describe them is a slowed down, less metallic version of KMFDM with MUCH darker overtones. My favorite tracks consist of "Crown of Thorns" and "Rise Again."

Cons: Portions of the music are understandably repetitive, but the portions that bugged me were the repeated choruses like at the end of "Just a Tenderness" which became a little irritating. Specific songs, in addition to "Just Like a Tenderness" that I didn't enjoy as much were "The March of the Dead" and "Final Warning."
