Unida - Coping With the Urban Coyote (1999) Reviewed on 12/15/04

Good

Nation: United States

Album Genre: Stoner Metal/Rock

Pros: The best portion of this album, is by far John Garcia's vocals. With the accompaniment of the cool as hell stoner guitar licks, Unida is a soulful example of how a band can go against the grain of common practice musical aesthetics, and come out smelling like roses in the end. I think what makes this album so great, is despite it being a modern metal album, it has the feeling of coming out of the 60's during that stoner era with all the crazy rock. That idea just adds so much to this album. Stand out tracks include "Black Woman" and "Dwarf It."

Cons: "Nervous" is a filler track and "You Wish" is just a 9 minute long borefest.
