Motorhead - March or Die (1992) Reviewed on 12/30/04

Good

Nation: United Kingdom

Album Genre: Traditional Metal

Pros: Up to now, I haven't heard much Motorhead except for stuff off of Ace of Spades and various other albums other the years, so this is my first real dose of a Motorhead album from beginning to end, and boy is it a letdown in comparison to their early work! There are a few standout tracks like the ballad "I Ain't No Nice Guy" (which takes the msot flack the most from the reviews I have read...go figure) and the 4 or 5 tracks following this song, but the first part of the album and the end really suck it up big time. I am giving this barely a good rating because the middle portion of this album from the ballad I mentioned above, all the way up to "Name in Vain", which is a generous portion of the album, however, when almost half of the album sucks the big bad one, I can't but help think it now has a perminent blemish to it.

Cons: The repetition and lack of any real sense of a catchy rhythym (with the exception of the middle portion) is barren. "March or Die" specifically can barely be considered a song based on its incredibly repetition.
