Incubus (US) - Make Yourself (1999) Reviewed on 8/14/04

Vewy Good

Nation: United States

Album Genre: Hard Rock

Pros: Top 40 radio hits usually consist of dried up dog shit covered in rich milk chocolate with seran wrap and a label that says ALL NEW SOUND! for all the little kiddies to eat up. I am a person that rarely listens to the radio, and if you asked me who was at the top of the charts right now I would say either an R&B artist or a rapper (if you can call them that anymore), and I'd probably be right. Music in the U.S. is in a sad state of affairs, but once and awhile a gem catches on in the mainstream, Incubus's Make Yourself happens to be one of those albums. Infact, up until their latest album, Incubus was known for their differentiating rock sound that divided them from all the shitty Nickelback clones and pop punk bands out there. These guys are superior musicians with vocals that fit and are NOT contrived. Incubus (especially their early stuff) reminds alot of Faith No More in essence. Despite making a mainstream run with this album, Incubus don't abandon their creative roots, and its entirely apparent with this album. Oh yeah, if you think I am a poser for liking this album, well then I guess you can go fuck yourself!

Cons: None
