Heathen - Victims of Deception (1991) Reviewed on 6/1/05

Mandatory Ownage

Nation: United States

Album Genre: Thrash Metal/Speed Metal

Pros: There are few times in a music fan's life where they come across something that absolutely stirs their blood and makes goosebumps and perhaps even tears well up. Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of those few albums that gave me that incredible feeling after you listen to a masterpiece. Heathen's Victims of Deception is quite simply a work of aggressive art, yet is not afraid to show beautiful melodic harmonics. Heathen, quite simply, runs circles around Metallica lyrically, instrumentally, and vocally. Infact, quite simply put, Heathen is the best thrash outfit in the Bay Area! Oh hell, Heathen is the best thrash band I have ever heard. It's unfortunate that this was their second and last album as a group...or is it? Yes folks, Heathen has reformed and have already released a best of album in 2003 with a few new recordings. I have high hopes for this band in the future for there are few bands in the history of metal that can rip it up like Heathen. Victims of Deception represents the pinnacle of what thrash can do, and for me, this album represents what all other thrash albums, past, present and in the future must live up to. If you are a metalhead, this is a necessary piece of music to listen to.

Cons: Fuck off! I ain't writin shit in this heeyah buggah!
