Firewind - Between Heaven And Hell (2002) Reviewed on 1/22/05

Vewy Good

Nation: Greece

Album Genre: Power Metal/Traditional Metal

Pros: Combining soaring vocals, whimsical duel guitars, and intricate classic styled solos with simple catchiness and all around proficiency in all realms, Firewind's first release is one that should go down into the annals of musical history has being an underground gem releasing a type of metal that few in our current age can perfect, which is the art of classic metal. Firewind brings tasteful old school power metal chords with standard traditional guides (if you enjoy Hammerfall, you'll love this stuff). This is simply an album from a band that can rip it up old school style. I would say these guys created their band in the wrong era, but then we wouldn't getting new age kick ass metal! The highlight of the album for me would be the song "Warrior" and "Who Am I" is a fantastic ballad.

Cons: The vocalist sounds like he is a bit strained at times, bordering on going out of tune.
