Cradle of Filth - Midian (2000) Reviewed on 1/4/05

Good

Nation: United Kingdom

Album Genre: Extreme Gothic Metal

Pros: This is standard fare from the gothic metallers from Great Britain. As of late, Cradle has received a hell of alot of flack from metalheads because they supposedly sold out and went mainstream or they simply just suck. This, in my opinion, is purely based on the ongoing shit tossing bandwagon that metalheads seem to be jumping on in reference to bands like Cradle of Filfth and Dimmu Borgir just because they are gaining in popularity, which is a load of bull. Everyone says Cradle's music is shit, but it really isn't. I mean, it's not great by any means, but this is listenable METAL. It has its catchy moments, and it has moments that drag. Overall, this release in particular, is standard Cradle of Filth and is worth a listen!

Cons: Songs can become repetitive, and the music itself has a tendency to be watered (dumbed down?) on this album.
