Body Count - Body Count (1992) Reviewed on 1/3/05

BLASPHEMY!

Nation: United States

Album Genre: Neo-Thrash Metal/Hardcore/Rap Metal

Pros: If you take this album for what it is (a dark satirical fantasy album about urban life that was not really meant to be taken seriously), then it can be enjoyed as a simplistic metal album. For those who don't know, this was Ice T's venture into metaldom after he put the single metal track "Body Count" on his rap album Original Gangster G. For me personally, this album has little redeeming quality on account of the fact I listen to music for the quality of it, not for its humor or commentary. However, is recommended you give it a try for the pure fact it's Ice T doing metal. On that note, "There Goes the Neighborhood", and "Cop Killer" are standout numbers that can be enjoyed. The rest of the album is just, well....yeah.

Cons: Considering this album was never meant to be a serious project of professional metal musicians, I won't bust it to pieces. In reality though, this album consists of basically amateurs playing basic riffs, basic drum beats all played very sloppy. However, I try to not take that into consideration when I listen to this.
