Apocalyptica - Reflections (2003) Reviewed on 9/29/04 |
Good Nation: Finland Album Genre: Symphonic (Cellos) Metal Pros: Apocalyptica definitely took more of a heavy metal swing with this album by becoming heavy on the percussion, and allowing the cellos to become more attitude driven in place of melody driven. The result is okay, but the beauty Apocalyptica possessed on past records is not as apparent on this release. Highlight tracks include: "Conclusion", "Resurrection", "Cortege", and "Toreador II." Cons: Not their best work. While the feel is still there, the band relies too much on percussion on this album, and it takes away from the atmosphere that the cellos make. Plus, the cellos themselves are not as technically melodic as they were on past efforts. |
