Atiga-Atando aka Kal Sereousz, o2 Depression is a powerful emotion. It turns people mentally ill, it can force people into suicide and it created a "Sereousz" rap style. This combined with stress is what makes Kal Sereousz Tick. Asked to describe his rap style he responds "(sigh), basically, current affairs with a depressed pessimistic outlook on life". "Yeah, and don't forget the grime, always griminess man". His brand of hip-hop consists of head nodding underground beats, frantic flows, intellectual lyrics and innovative thought provoking concepts. Kal Sereousz, a member of the eight strong MC crew, PHOBIA. All reside in East London's Leytonstone area, which they affectionately call "Arkham Asylum" or "The Gritty Sides". When asked why he chose to become an MC he replies, "I don't really even look upon myself as an MC" he proclaims, "I'm a hip-hop head and this is me just taking my place in the culture". "I'm a broke student with dreams of £45K a year salaries. The rap ting is just my hobby, it's an escape from reality". Sereousz met up with Rap Raven in Newham VI Form College where they both got into music production and found they had a few common interests. Raven's Production accelerated while Sereousz focussed more on the rhyming and after a few guest appearances on Rap Raven albums, the two hooked up to create Kal Sereousz's Dirty Little Secret. "The album's all right, but I don't feel like I lived up to my true potential", he says, modestly of an album many an MC would find hard to match. "We recorded it in my exam period so my attention was divided, plus we was getting kicked out of the college so it ended up getting kinda rushed. But still, Raven smacked the beats and it's decent, I just reckon I can do better." This more or less sums up the attitude of an artist that is a perfectionist with his craft and will definately go far thinking, "no matter how good you think you are, you can always get better, nothing's perfect". "All I really wanna do is reach the heads that's out there, tell the news and give 'em something to think about. F*uck the money and celeb flex, I got into hip-hop when it was good and I'm trying to make the timeless riddims that man can feel, so are my crew. If you wanna shake your arse go watch MTV Base.
