Released on April 23rd, 1985
The Cage Of Kings is Sinister Death's first album on Columbia Records after their contract with Hell Records was terminated. As a consequence, they lost all rights to Field Of Kitaro and Broken Chambers, and any other demo recordings made during the production of the two albums.
The album features session percussionist Peter Simmons, as the band had recently parted ways with drummer Alan Silveriti. It also features bassist Erica Horne making her debut after the tragic death of founder George Harden. The album was dedicated in his memory, explaining why the band is still so close to the Jazz they were known for during his tenure.
The album continues the revolutionary direction the band first took on 'Broken Chambers', this time incorporating elements that would later define Black & Death metal, particularly on the songs "Child Of the Damned" and "Black Mass". Despite this, and positive critical and commercial reception, the album has failed to achieve the acclaim 'Broken Chambers' and their follow-up album, 'Transcendence' have received......... |
