Day In Brief:Downtown VancouverGastown
Chinatown

After the long and ardous journey to Vancouver, needless to say we started today really late. 2pm to be exact. By the time all of us were done with our daily rituals, it was about 3pm or so if I'm not mistaken, that we managed to drag ourselves out of the hotel for a good proper meal and for some sight-seeing.

Breakfast cum lunch was a delicious meal of Japanese food. Surprise! Surprise! The Japanese restaurant that we lunched in was run by some HongKongers!

Some first impressions of Vancouver in the daytime. Vancouver, in some ways reminds me of San Francisco. As there are many migrants of different ethnic groups in Vancouver, it is relatively easy to find shops and especially eateries serving different kinds of cuisine from Chinese to Japanese, Vietnamese, Western etc. Quite similar to the case in SF. Guess this sounds so typical of a Singaporean, with Food being my main preoccupation...:)

Gastown

Gastown is one of my personal favourites in Vancouver BC. Especially for those who like to do a lot of walking and exploring like me :) Gastown is really picturesque with its cobble-stoned streets, mews, courtyards and Victorian architecture. Not to mention all the goodies that can be found in the shops along the streets, such as maple syrup chocolate, maple syrup cookies etc. Yum Yum!

A fovourite of many visitors to Gastown.
Can u see the steam rising from the top of the clock?

Steamclock again!

Chinatown

Vancouver has a Chinatown that is within walking distance from Gastown and Downtown Vancouver. Similar to other shops in the region, shops in Chinatown do close early. So, if you intend to go shopping in the shops around Chinatown, do remember to go early! :)

Day In Brief:Vancouver AquariumStanley Park, Vancouver Bay Area

Vancouver Aquarium

Popped over to Vancouver Aquarium in the morning. Enjoyed the trip to the aquarium thoroughly, learning about the different plants and aquatic animals that can be found living in rather different climates from what we are used to i.e. the tropics. Especially enjoyed the displays on aquatic animals in the polar regions! Liked the Bellugra Whales display immensely. Don't think I would have had the chance to see these cute white(?) whales frolicking in the water over here in sunny, hot Singapore due to the major climate differences.
