AMIEL ROLDAN's body of works represents the continuation of his integral personal shift in presenting dichotomies and disproportions in all multi-aspects of his artmaking. Some of the recurring themes in his past work revolve around politics, religion and the plight of individuals - regression, denial, faith / faithlessness, courage and wit. "I work largely on cultural issues in my installations and mass prints being active in socio-religio-political issues. I gain insight to create from popular convictions, lifestyles and Filipino practices while I try to explore on paintings and drawings in a more conceptual degree as a personal and physical contrast."

Roldan has worked in a variety of media and capacities: research and photography as well as curating and organizing exhibitions for institutions, such as the Jorge B. Vargas Museum, Kulay Diwa Gallery and the Hiraya Gallery. As one of the independent group of young artists in the Philippines, he has also collaborated with ARS (Artist-Run-Spaces) in several exhibition projects, which show emerging artists and in other personal shows.

Roldan has been invited to represent the Philippines in the 1995 Japan Print Asia at the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum, Japan and in the 4th Triennial Mondiale D' Estampes Petit Format in Chamaliares France in 1998.

He created new works in relief prints, paintings, photographs and drawings during his stay at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP). He was an Asian Cultural Council (ACC) - Starr Foundation Grant Awardee for 2003-2004 and a Chashama Artist grantee for 2004.
