Trilogy Note: Matt Groening and David X. Cohen have expressed interest in not only making a Futurama Movie, but also making a Futurama Trilogy. Now with Futurama's Series Finale looking to air in May 2003, there is a good chance that a Futurama Movie may become a reality. As for a trilogy, that's too early to tell though.
Movie Premise:
No plot has been revealed yet for this movie, nor has a Futurama Movie been officially categorized as "IN PRODUCTION" but there is much hope for a movie. With the recent Futurama Cancellation Matt Groening is considering making a movie to at least explain a few unexplained Futurama events. An example would've been explaining Leela's origin. That is, if she hadn't found out during the recent episode, "Leela's Homeworld." Since the show may be nearing it's last season (Season 5), he says that he personally wants to make a trilogy (aka: a three part movie series) with a movie company willing to fund the movies (20th Century Fox, unless Fox perminently cancels Futurama). He had even stated at an earlier date closer to the show's debut on the air that he has ideas for a movie. As of right now, the movie(s) are just in the "DISCUSSION STAGES." Production may not be going as well as The Simpsons Movie , but the talks seem to be going well for the possible Futurama Movie. I am constantly searching for information and as soon as anything new comes in, it will be posted. NOTE: By the time a Futurama Movie will be "IN PRODUCTION" it will most likely be past Futurama's Season 5 so a possible year for the release of this movie could be 2005 (if the movie is announced in 2003, it will probably take about two years to make the movie).
