"Hazel was murdered," Sara said without a trace of sympathy for her sister. "Oh my�What about Zane is he alright?," Sam asked worried. "Zane's fine�well physically anyway but I bet he could use a friend right now," Mike said as he handed Sam her coat. When they arrived at the diner Sam quickly started looking for Zane. She saw Ellie there who was saying something about where the killer would have been standing and giving other information to one of the many police officers who were there. Sam thought the whole department must have showed up.

When she saw Rudy she decided he probably would know where Zane was. As she approached he was telling another officer that there were no signs of forced entry and that none of the windows or locks were broken. Sam interrupted him and asked, "Where is Zane?" "Sam you're not supposed to be here," Rudy said annoyed, then realizing the look of concern on her face said "Besides Zane's down at the station being questioned."

Since the police station wasn't that far she decided to walk. When she arrived at the police station she asked the secretary where Zane was. She pointed to a back room and said "They aren't questioning him right now, so you can go on back." Sam kept thinking on the way back to the room, what am I going to say? What are you supposed to do in situations like these?

When she opened the door she was surprised to see that Zane was not alone. The girl from the diner was right beside him telling how sorry she was. Sam quickly spoke up saying "I just heard. How are you?" Zane just looked up at her with a pale face and two very red eyes and Sam just wanted to wrap him in a big hug. Zane started to say something but was interrupted by Crystal who in an annoyed voice said, "How do you think he is? He just lost his mother." Sam started to apologize but Zane cut her off saying "No, it's alright Crystal. This is Sam the girl I told you about." All of the sudden Crystal gave Sam a look that sent chills up her spine.

Before to long Rudy came in with Mike right on his heals. "Sam we need to ask you a few questions," Rudy said. "What about?" Sam asked confused. "Let's just go to another room first," Rudy said. Sam started to grow worried wondering what could have happened now. "Were you at the diner last night after it closed?" Mike asked before they even entered room. "What you've got to be kidding me! You think I killed Hazel?" Sam asked, horrified at the thought of her own brother accusing her of murder.
