Crystal and Zane are having a wonderful time talking. Finally Crystal says, "I have to go but I was wondering if you would like to go out sometime, say Friday?" About to jump at the opportunity Zane realizes he has plans for Friday with his mother. So he says he has to ask his mom and then heads behind the counter where his mother is taking orders.

Once she finishes with the costumer he asks "Can I go out with Crystal on Friday?" Hazel says "You know we have plans. You can go out on Saturday. By the way whose Crystal and what happened with Sam?" Zane a little frustrated says, "Crystal is the girl I have been talking to all evening, the blonde and Sam just wants to be friends she has made that abundantly clear."

"Oh, Okay. Still Friday is out, alright?" He nods in agreement then heads back to where Crystal is sitting. "How about we go on Saturday instead?" Zane asks. She agrees then says "Meet here at 7 o'clock. Then walks out the door. Leaving Zane almost jumping with excitement Saturday arrives and Zane and Crystal decide to go to an early movie since her parents have a strict curfew.

Elizabeth, Jacob, and Sam all arrive at the diner around 8:30. They grab a booth and Hazel comes over to take their orders. They all had decided to eat before the go. After taking their orders Sam asks Hazel "Do you know when Zane was planning on showing up?" Hazel looks a little confused then said that Zane had already left with Crystal around 7 o'clock something about an early movie. Hazel went to the kitchen to place their orders. Sam thought about not going to the movie but knew it would look too suspicious and she didn't want anyone to think she liked Zane, especially now that he had a girlfriend.

After the movie Sam decided to go down to the diner even though it was closed. She thought maybe Zane would be helping his mother clean up and that they could talk. When she got there she knocked on the door but no one answered so she looked in the windows. She saw a light on in the back but no one appeared to be around so she went home.

The next morning she woke up determined to talk to Zane about standing them up the night before. When she got downstairs everyone was running around like crazy people more than usual. She knew a big story must have happened because both Mike and Sara were arguing about who got to use the car. When Sam got to the bottom of the steps Mike was putting on his coat and about to head out the door.

Sam asked him "What's your rush it's only 6 in the morning?" At the sound of her voice everyone froze. Sam didn't like the awkward silence that had filled the room and knew it meant something terrible had happened. She couldn't take it any longer and yelled, "What happened?" Mike replied in his softest voice. "There was an incident at the diner last night."

"What kind of incident?" Sam asked, feeling light headed. "A murder." Mike told her. "What?" she asked.
