Chapter 10

*******
Margot could hardly sleep that night so waking up was no big feat for her.  At 8:30, she dragged her bags downstairs to the lobby and checked out.  When she turned to sit down on a plush couch and wait for JC, she saw a black stretch limo waiting outside.  When she looked closer, she could see a young man leaning against the large car.  When she looked even closer, she could make out his features and immediately recognized the man as JC.

Margot muttered playfully to herself the entire way outside, Damn him.  The punctual little- Joshua!  Youre here so early!

He smirked.  Wait, wait, what were you saying?

She looked confusedly at him, Uh, youre here so early?

No, no, before that.  Something along the lines of, the punctual little something.  I couldnt quite make out that last bit.

Hm, I guess youll never know then! she joked as she walked back into the lobby to get her bags.  The limo driver followed closely.  Once all her stuff was in the trunk, she and JC hopped in and were on their way.

JC and Margot chatted animatedly during the entire trip.  They seemed even closer now because they knew so much about each other.

But still not enough, JC sadly mused to himself.

Every time he had initiated a new conversation with the subject being family, Margot would suddenly become cold and change the issue.  At first JC hadnt thought anything of it, he would respect her right to privacy and continue to talk about whatever shed change the topic of discussion to.  But now, he wanted to know.  He had let his curiosity get the better of him and he told himself that the next time he asked her about her family, he
would get an answer.

and I fell backwards!  I swear that was the most embarrassing moment of my entire life!  Margot laughed freely.  JC looked over to the woman across from him, she was still laughing wildly but JC wasnt really paying attention to that.  When she laughed, her eyebrows rose slightly, and her nose crinkled up in the middle.  Her dazzling white teeth shone brightly in the dim lights of the limo and her warm giggle rang delightfully through the confined space.  JC continued to study her closely as she slowly recomposed herself.  She sighed loudly one last time before turning to JC, suddenly realizing shed been the only one laughing at her crazy story.

Um, JC are you ok? she asked, concerned at the worried look on his face.

Yeah, thats hilarious He trailed off, not really listening to Margot, but still looking at her intently.

Margot smiled evilly.

Yeah, you know whats even funnier? Im wearing a black thong right now and its beginning to ride up my-

What!? JC screamed, obviously engrossed with whatever she had to say now.  Margot smiled again.

I thought that would get your attention.

JC scrunched his nose up distastefully at her little joke.  After looking at her try to hide the laughter building up inside, he gave up on trying to be mad and laughed right along with her.  He hated being the butt of jokes, but whenever he was with Margot, the things that usually annoyed him hardly mattered anymore.  Nothing she did made him upset and nothing she ever would do would make him stop thinking kindly of her.

God Chasez!  What the hell are you talking about?  I mean, yeah shes great and all, but you just met her, what, 5 hours ago?  And youre already getting ready to break out the ring!   You need to get a hold of yourself and stop falling over yourself so easily for girls.  And I know youve heard this before, but you cannot let your heart be so easily broken.  Never again.

Anyway, so you didnt tell me where were going.

To my beach house.  I thought I said that already.

You did, I mean where exactly.  I know Ive never been to California before, but I just want to know the name of the place Ill be staying for a while.

Malibu.

Malibu?  What kind of name is that?

I dont know, what does it matter?

I dont know, I thought you might know.

And why would I know?

I dont know!  You seem kind of worldly.  You must be pretty well off; were riding in a limo in case you havent noticed.  And if youre so rich, you must have been places.  And being places also means you might know some things too.  But obviously, I must have guessed wrong

Hey, hey now!  I may not be any Albert Einstein, but I do know some things, as you so eloquently stated.

Dont even start with me Chasez.

What did I do!?

Now youve just insulted my intelligence even more!  What next?  Barney gonna show up on that TV screen there?

Of course not!  How tasteless can you be, I was thinking more along the lines of Sesame Street.

You are horrible!

As are you my dear, as are you.

Margot hit the back of her head against the plush seat and groaned noisily at JC.  Sure, he was cute, and smart, but he was a brat too.

He chuckled at the flustered girl.  Most of the people who knew him well knew not to let him get on their nerves.  He was usually laid back and easy to handle, but when motivated, he could annoy someone so much theyd be forced to kill him.  Almost.

Were here. A foreign voice called from the now open door of the limousine.  Margot jumped slightly at the sound of the drivers voice and looked up at the formally dressed man standing above her.  He held his hand out to help her out of the car but she just looked at the outstretched limb oddly.

Ya know, youre supposed to put your hand in his so you can get out of the car.  But if you wanna sleep in the limo, thats your deal.

She rolled her eyes at JC before allowing the driver to lift her to her feet.  She looked around her and her mouth dropped open.
Was this the house she was to live in?

Before she knew what was happening, she felt a warm finger underneath her chin, slowly lifting it to meet with the other jaw.  Margot looked up and met JCs playful eyes in her own shocked ones.  She managed a whisper.

Is- is this where you- where
were going to live? she gulped.

Yep. He put his hands in his pockets.  Do you approve?

Do I approve?  Is the sky blue?  Is your hair brown?  Is my name
freaking Margot!?

Uh, not as far as I know.  Is there something you wanna-

OH MY GOD!  THIS IS WHERE IM GOING TO LIVE!

Margot ran as fast her size 8 feet could carry her.  She stopped once she arrived at the large oak door placed infuriatingly between her and the house of her dreams.  JC just looked in wonder and amazement as she tried to yank the door off its hinges.  A wave of laughter hit him when she kicked it and stubbed her toe painfully.  She hopped around on one foot for a while before turning back to door to bang on it a bit more.  The fact that she believed she could get into the house when the entry happened to be at least three times her size cracked him up.  The scene was definitely comical, to say the least.

Margot heard him guffaw and turned to face his pink face.  Her eyes widened.

What are you laughing at JC!?

He cleared his throat and made a straight face.

Uh, nothing.

Then why are you struggling not to laugh?

Oh, no reason.

Her eyes narrowed.

Joshua she slowly sauntered up to him.  He eyed her nervously.

Uh, yeah?

You dont happen to have the keys to the house do you?

Actually, I do.

Great!  Then would you mind terribly if I asked you a question?

JC smiled at Margot as she quickly closed the space between them.  She leaned against his chest and looked into his eyes innocently.

Could you unlock the door he took them out of his back pocket and held them up for her.  She smiled calmly.  And then shove the keys up your ass afterwards!

She snatched the keys from him and ran back to the door.  JCs mouth gaped open as he watched the young girl run into their beach house.

Their beach house.  The thought made him smile.

She really turned out to be something, huh.

He walked toward the front door slowly and smiled plainly.

Yes, she did.
