| What an incredible day!!! Plan for the day was to hike up the Half Dome which is one of the tallest mountains looking over the Yosemite Valley. Its quite a tough hike - 17 mile round trip and 4,000ft of climb - so we got started early (6:30!). The hike was incredible - the route takes you up passed several picturesque waterfalls and you are constantly surrounded by towering rocks and mountains. It really has to be seen to be believed. The final part of the hike looked like absolute madness! As you approach the top of the Half Dome, the path appears to climb away vertically in front of you. In fact the last 500ft is so steep that there are steel cables running down the side that you have to use to haul yourself up! Needless to say, the view from the top was absolutely stunning. We finished our descent as dusk was falling, and as we drove to the village store to get some celebratory beers we had a fantastic view of the Half Dome bathed in orange as it caught the last bit of sunshine of the day. I think that this will take some beating.......... Click HERE to see some of the photos |
