| Quite a late start to day - spent most of the morning sorting out stuff to take to Yosemite. Finally set off around mid-day for what turned out to be quite a long drive (best part of 6 hours in the end). We arrived at the entrance of the park to discover that all the campgrounds in the main Yosemite valley were full, so we camped instead at Crane Flats which is a little higher in the hills. By the time we had arrived dusk was already falling and it was dark by the time I managed to put up the tent (during which time Paddy did manage to fix an excellent meal of rice and ?sh*t). Apparently the bears in Yosemite have become so adept at breaking into cars for food, you have to empty your car of anything that may look or smell like food and place in large bear proof metal lockers. This became something of a routine over the next couple of days. |
