Early in 2002 sometime after Easter, Nat Handloser and his friends, David Charles and Mike McKibbon started working with what would become Beyond Flesh. This three piece Christian Metal band included Nat's banshee vocals and Mike's and David's bass and guitar talent. First remaking Christian children songs such as Deep and Wide and Jesus Loves Me in their own extreme metal style, they then began constructing originals in the vein of  Black/Death Metal.

During this time, Nick Savage enter the band as the drummer and the last addition to Beyond Flesh was added when Art Handloser agreed to do Keyboards. With Beyond Flesh complete several shows was played locally in Eastern Kentucky. Mike had to step down due to his other band and that was when Dustin Charles stepped in as bass.

The Band worked hard on new material such as, Negative Embrace and Shadows, for a big show in Whitesburg, KY and put out a self titled demo with six songs.  Shortly after the show David and Dustin left the band for personal reasons. The band struggled to go on with  great disappointment. Nat temporarily filled the position of guitar and his newly wed wife Cynthia was talked into playing bass. The band has now emerged from the shadows,  the name and style has changed to become what is the sound of elegant darkness of SIMEON.

Some may ask us why CBM and we will answer: "We play extreme music with extreme praise to an extreme God.  We rise from the darkness that lay around us in this world as a light in the black sea of sorrow, pain and infamy to tell of the savior's grace."

And recent days everyone contributes to the band. Not just one person writes the music or the lyrics. We work together as a united body. Nick adds what he feels accelerates Art's classical meanderings as Cynthia and Nat shadow the acoustics with ambient licks on bass and guitar.  What sets Simeon apart from other bands is Nat's wide array of screams, screeches, squeals, and shrieks to growls and grumbles as well as clean gothic vocals.  "We are a family literally." says Cynthia. There are possibilities of adding Carrie Savage, Nick's wife, as a female vocalist. Recent events have lead to no female parts as of yet. Carrie is still very much part of the band as well as Linda, Art's wife is for support, encouragement, and noise management.

Sunday is session days were we get together after church, gear up, play and then eat a good meal together as we fellowship. Many Sundays we gather our chords and instruments or the like to Nick's trailer or Art's and Linda's  to meet for a couple of hours of practice. Through equipment troubles and off days to good days and hours of praise, we have managed to pull together a couple of songs with confidence as we hope and plan for a few more to release on a demo. We are also collaborating on a Christmas Album.
