| Chapter 5: Learning by Visualizing With Technology:Recording Realities with Videos | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| TV is a very interesting tool for teachers to enhance learning, once they establish clear objectives for watching TV programs. Students need to be mentally engaged and actively process television messages analyzing it for content, and source value. Teachers need to watch the program first, analyze it, and give an introductory overview for the students and what needs to be observed on the programs and activities to be completed after the programs are watched. Telecourses are powerful tools to reach students that live far away from schools or have problems commuting, work full time, or have time constraints. Video is another good tool; however a large amount of time is needed to be addressed to learn video software that will help editing. Another concern is with all the accessories and equipments needed to make the film available since when it is transferred to the computer, edited, rendered, and transferred to a CD, VHS, DVD, or others. Those are expensive equipments that schools sometimes cannot afford them, or don't know to work with them. Another problem is that teachers are not trained in using those equipments and software; so teachers need to learn it first. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
