Techniques
- Editing a Screenshot
Now that we’ve got our screenshots, let’s get started. Our first task
is to free Eggman from his surroundings. Open your Eggman picture in
Paint (or your favorite image editing program). Select the area around
Eggman and copy this into a new document, as seen below:
There are two ways to erase the
background. The first is using the eraser, of course. The second
is actually to paint (using either the “Pencil” or “Fill with Color” tools)
using the color white. Let’s use the “Fill with Color” tool first.
Click on the paint bucket, select the color white from below, and then click
on the main color (which appears to be some shade of off gray). Your
picture should now look like this:
(I’d like to note that I can’t show the tools being used without actually
creating a picture of the tool, thus doing a hoax within my tutorial example.
This is because the mouse pointer disappears when you hit Print Screen.)
Now use the eraser to erase the pixels up at the top of the picture and
to the side of Eggman’s body. Feel free to use the “Fill with Color”
tool to get the tan area in between Eggman’s leg and bottom. Tip:
Zoom In on the picture to improve your accuracy. In Paint you can zoom
up to 800%.
Your picture of Eggman should now look like this:
Now we will head to the background
of our screenshot, which involves a little more work.
