(Introduction page)
Robotnik has been defeated, but the freedom fighters will soon face new challenges.

Once everyone lived peacefully in a city called Mobotropolis, which was ruled by King and Queen Acorn.  However, a war broke out with the overlanders, and Queen Acorn was assumed to be dead.  King Acorn's forces were led by Julian, who later renamed himself Robotnik, and he banished King Acorn to the Zone of Silence.  Using his swatbots, Robotnik had citizens captured and roboticized, a process that turned flesh into metal and deprives the citizen of their free will.  A band of freedom fighters stood up to Robotnik and eventually won.

Now the freedom fighters are studying what used to be their home.  Once they are inside of Robotnik's command center, Sally calls Geoffrey St. John.  Sonic is rude to Geoffrey, but before they can begin to argue, a noise scares everyone.  Dynamac appears (first seen in Sonic the Hedgehog #31) and tries to capture Tails.  Geoffrey tries to use his crossbow gun as Sonic attempts to attack Dynamac.  Dynamac captures Antoine, Bunnie, Hershey, and Tails and begins to spin them around.  Sally tells Sonic to use "plan c," for confuse.  As Sonic creates multiple images of himself, Rotor finds Snively watching the robot behind a curtain.  Snively runs away, and Geoffrey shoots a net at him with one of his crossbow bolts.  Sally tells Sonic to start "plan d," for diversion.  Bunnie uses this opportunity to grab a live wire and electrocute Dynamac.  The robot falls to the ground, and Geoffrey tries to make Snively talk.  When Snively refuses, Sally and Sonic leave Geoffrey with Snively.  Sally walks up some stairs in hopes of seeing what used to be her home.  Sonic and Tails leave Sally alone and ask Rotor for an update.

"Map of Mobius" - 2 pages

The next morning, Sally confirms with Nicole that she should have everyone divide into teams.  Bunnie and Antoine must find a source of clean water, Rotor must try to establish power, and Sonic and Tails must check the grounds to make sure there is no more danger.  Sally looks for Geoffrey, but he is gone.  Meanwhile, Geoffrey contacts King Acorn to inform him that everything is secure, and they have anticipated almost all of their threats.  King Acorn is upset and tells Geoffrey that they must protect themselves from Sir Charles Hedgehog (Uncle Chuck), who could threaten the kingdom since he invented the roboticizer.  Doctor Quack orders King Acorn to rest, so Geoffrey ends his communication and informs Fleming that nobody can enter the room while he is gone.

Uncle Chuck packs up his spy equipment and heads underground to tell everyone the news.  Soon Uncle Chuck tells a group of roboticized Mobians that Robotnik was defeated.  Jules says that their freedom is worthless when they are not in their original form.  Uncle Chuck explains that although the Ultimate Annihilator (from Sonic #50) restored everyone's free will, the original roboticizer was destroyed.  Although Uncle Chuck could try to rebuild the roboticizer, if a roboticized Mobian had a modification, their cellular structure was also changed, making it difficult to survive de-roboticization.

Tails spots a group of swatbots and contacts Sonic.  The two head into a building, and Tails wonders if Robotnik tried something different since they knew about his final revenge plan (from Sonic #22).  A swatbot approaches Sonic and Tails, but to their surprise it does not notice them.  Suddenly, a voice calls out for help, and Sonic and Tails track the sound to Penelope, who points out that Arlo is trapped under rocks.  Sonic unsuccessfully tries to use his speed to kick the rocks away.  Suddenly Rudyard, who is roboticized, appears and begins to remove the rocks.

To Tails' surprise, Uncle Chuck and a group of robots appear.  Uncle Chuck approaches Sonic and tells him that there is a couple that wants to see him.  Jules and Bernie ask if Sonic has forgotten about his parents.  Sonic is shocked and asks why Uncle Chuck never told him about his parents.  Upset, Sonic runs away.  Bernie asks Tails to follow Sonic as Uncle Chuck feels horrible.

Dylan and Hamlin inform Sally that around two of every five communication boxes are working.  As Sally checks with Nicole, the group of roboticized Mobians appear.  Sally hugs Uncle Chuck and then says she recognizes Bernie.  Sally tells everyone that she is happy that everyone is together.  Rudyard apologizes and explains that things may never be the same.  As Rudyard walks away, Uncle Chuck explains that they need time to adapt.

Sonic is upset and tells Tails that Uncle Chuck should not have kept his parents a secret.  Sonic continues to say that Uncle Chuck said they were victims of the war, when his parents were actually underneath Robotropolis.  Tails explains that they are victims of the war, since they were roboticized.  Although Sally knew where her father was, life was not easier on her.  Tails explains that Uncle Chuck understood what Sally was going through and decided that it was best for Sonic not to know about his parents.  Sonic begins to accept Tails' words, and Tails flies Sonic back to their friends.

That night, Sally feels like Mobotropolis will never be restored.  Nicole says that there are still other options to explore, and Geoffrey agrees.  Geoffrey sits beside Sally, who says that they will always be friends and nothing more.  Geoffrey says that it is Sally's loss and acts as if he is about to kiss her.  Sonic interrupts the two and punches Geoffrey.  Geoffrey and Sonic begin fighting, and Antoine and Bunnie use a fire hose to cool them off.  Sally makes Geoffrey and Sonic shake hands and tells everyone to retire for the night.

Sally uses Nicole to contact her father and asks if she can tell everyone that he is in command.  King Acorn tells Sally that she is doing a fine job and she must continue to keep this a secret, just like she kept secrets in the past.  The next day, the roboticized Mobians explain to Sally that they want to start their own colony since they have heard whispers among Sally's kind.  Sally is upset and says that the roboticized Mobians are everyone's family and friends and that they belong with everyone.

Rotor connects a wire and tells a skyliner to take-off.  The skyliner soon arrives at the Devil's Gulag.  Geoffrey and his men inspect the grounds to make sure the prisoners have enough food and water and that no one has escaped.  Snively thinks to himself that when the time comes, he will make his move.
