Sonic the Hedgehog has explored many places, but Flickie Island will be the strangest.  Flickie Island is home to Flickie Birds, which are an endangered species.  In addition, the island is the entrance to the Flickie Zone.  Robotnik plans to take the island's natural resources to use for his schemes.  Now Sonic and the freedom fighters must stop Robotnik from ruining the island.

Robotnik has an important message for Snively, so he orders Snively to activate the "super secret scrambler" so the freedom fighters will not find out about his plan.  Snively, upset over being stuck to Robotnik's butt for days (at the end of the SonicQuest mini-series), destroys the device in hopes that the freedom fighters will hear the message and attack Robotnik while he has no swatbots to protect him.

"Sonic Blast"

Part I:
Rotor looks at the satellite scanner, which has intercepted Robotnik's transmission. As Sally leaves to find Sonic, she tells Rotor and Tails to meet at the harbor. Sally soon finds Sonic fishing at the harbor.  Sonic says he's a little upset over Sally's inconsistent stories of her past with Knuckles the Echidna.  Sally says she did it to protect everyone and explains she is interested in a blue guy with blue bristles on his back.  It looks like Sally might kiss Sonic when Rotor shows up in his Bathysphere and Tails in his Sea Fox.  Sally jumps away from Sonic and tells him to go with Rotor and Tails.  Rotor tells Sonic that Robotnik is on Flickie Island.  Sonic jumps into the Bathysphere, ready for action.

Meanwhile, Robotnik looks at Flickie Island, where gemstones grow instead of flowers.  Robotnik believes that the island must hold a Chaos Emerald.  Taking advantage of the friendly Flickie Birds, Robotnik proceeds to roboticize most of the birds.  Robotnik scares the last remaining Flickie and follows it in hopes of finding the location of the Chaos Emerald.

Part II:
A swarm of birds approaches, so Tails flies ahead to investigate.  Tails soon realizes that the Flickie Birds have been roboticized.  The roboticized Flickie Birds attack Tails and stop his tails so that he cannot fly.  Tails falls into the water and some of the Flickie Birds turn back to normal.  Rotor realizes that the salt water allowed the birds to return to normal, and Sonic explains that it happens in zones (such as the Sonic the Hedgehog games).  Sonic helps Tails into the Bathysphere as a roboticized bird approaches.  Sonic collects some water, forms it into a ball (moving so fast that the laws of physics have not yet applied) and throws it at the bird.  The bird turns back to normal and flies away.  Sonic leaves the rest of the birds to Tails and Rotor and speeds across the water to find Robotnik.  Tails and Rotor use water guns to shoot the remaining birds as Sonic finds a Flickie Bird on the island.  Realizing that the birds do not understand what he is saying, Sonic draws a picture of Robotnik on the ground.  The bird flies quickly in the shape of a ring and flies away. Meanwhile, Robotnik sees a large magic ring that serves as a portal. Robotnik knows that the Chaos Emerald is responsible for the other dimension and jumps into the ring. But before Robotnik can fall through the ring, Sonic hits him from behind.

Part III:
Robotnik tries shooting at Sonic, but Sonic is too fast and runs behind Robotnik to give him a wedgie.  After Robotnik recovers, he stares at Sonic, who is so close that their noses touch. Robotnik presses a button that sends a jolt from his body to Sonic's body.  As Sonic tries to gain his balance, Robotnik jumps into the magic ring.  Sonic jumps in behind him and follows Robotnik through the Flickie Zone.

Special Bonus Pin-Up!
Sonic vs. Robotnik in the Flickie Zone
(2 pages)

Sonic destroys Robotnik's battlesuit and grabs Robotnik's cape.  The cape wraps itself around Sonic so that he cannot move.  Robotnik explains that the cape is made from plaidmantium, the strongest fiber in the world.  Robotnik runs through a tunnel and soon finds a large statue of a Flickie Bird with a Chaos Emerald in its forehead.  Robotnik climbs up the statue and removes the emerald. Suddenly the statue comes to life, and the ground begins to shake.  Sonic thinks the feeling is similar to what happened when Super Sonic and Hyper Knuckles destroyed a zone (back in the Super Sonic vs. Hyper Knuckles special).  Sonic quickly causes a vibration, allowing the atoms in his spines to pass through the cape.  Now that he is free, Sonic forces his way through the magic ring as Robotnik tries to escape.  The portal begins to close on Robotnik's arm as he holds onto the Chaos Emerald.  Sonic tells Robotnik to let go of the Chaos Emerald, but he refuses.  Inside the portal, a Flickie Bird eyes the Chaos Emerald.  Robotnik yells that something has bit him and he lets go of the Chaos Emerald.  As Sonic celebrates, Robotnik says that he still has his roboticized Flickie Birds.  Rotor and Tails appear and announce that the birds are back to normal and went into the magic ring.  Tails drops the pieces of Robotnik's roboticizer in front of Robotnik as he cries. Sonic, Rotor, and Tails start to leave the island.  Robotnik asks them how he will escape since his battlesuit was destroyed.  Sonic says that Robotnik will be prisoner on the island and leaves him behind.

"The T.U.F.F. Awards"
(2 pages)

Awards are given to The Ultimate Freedom Fighter in a variety of categories.  For each category, Rotor has picked out unflattering footage of the fighter in action.  (Example:  There is no footage Sonic running fast, so Rotor picks out footage of Sonic fast asleep.)  When it is time for the award for smartest freedom fighter, Sally takes the envelope and says she is smart because she pulled the plug (literally) on the show.

"Bugged Bunny!"

Disguised as plants, Robotnik and Snively plant a tracking device on Bunnie.  When Bunnie wakes up, she heads back to Knothole.  Robotnik and Snively follow Bunnie through weeds (Robotnik gets bit in the process), bouncing across rubber plants (Robotnik bounces too hard and lands in a tree), and to a gorge. Robotnik decides to stop following Bunnie and return to Robotropolis in preparation to find Knothole. After Bunnie jumps across the gorge, the tracking device falls off of her body.  Bunnie bends down to pick the device back up, but an animal quickly eats it and burrows underground.  Bunnie decides to continue going back to Knothole.  Later that night, Robotnik has his swatbots dig underground in search of Knothole as the animal watches.
