Part 1:
Sonic is enjoying the celebration, but he wonders why the freedom fighters
are not with the rest of the Knothole village. A fly buzzes past Sally,
and she reveals a medal for Sonic's bravery. That night, Sonic is sound
asleep in his race car bed. Sally wakes up Sonic and tells him that
they must go on a secret mission. When the two get to the end of the
Great Forest, Sonic asks Sally to explain what is going on. Sally calls
Sonic a fool and com-bots appear from the shadows. Sonic runs to avoid
the com-bots' fire as Sally reveals herself as a robot. She tells Sonic
to tell everyone that Robotnik will soon capture Knothole.
Part 2:
Tails grabs Sonic's hand and flies into the air. Sonic explains that
Robotnik roboticized Sally. Suddenly, an image of Uncle Chuck appears.
Before Sonic can study the image, a buzzbomber flies up behind Sonic and Tails.
Sonic looks at the ground only to find a crabmeat ready to attack. So Sonic
says that trouble always comes in twos. Tails says it comes in threes
and then drops Sonic to the ground. As Sonic falls toward the ground,
he tries to think of what to do. There is a large explosion, and when
the smoke clears, crabmeat and a roboticized Tails find a crater. Sonic
tunnels underground, thinking that Tails forgot about his triple spin.
He tries to figure out what is happening, and the image of Uncle Chuck appears
again. Sonic disregards the image and heads toward the surface.
Part 3:
Sonic bursts from the surface only to find Bunnie with an injured leg.
After Sonic helps Bunnie stand, she explains that a holographic image of Uncle
Chuck appeared and shot laser beams at her. Sonic says he just saw the image
and demands to know how it could attack her at the same time. Yawning, Sonic
tells Bunnie to go ahead and attack if she isn't on his side. Bunnie
tries to kick Sonic, but he is too fast and runs toward the spring.
Sonic sees a ring coming from the spring and tries to pull it out of the water.
While Sonic struggles, the robot Bunnie appears behind Sonic. Sonic quickly
uses the ring to trap Bunnie. Later, Sonic makes his way to Knothole.
As Sonic runs, the image of Uncle Chuck reappears. The hologram talks
in gibberish, and Sonic wonders if he is being warned not to go to Knothole.

Part 4:
Sonic runs into Knothole only to find Robotnik and roboticized Sally, Bunnie,
and Tails. Robotnik laughs and tells Sonic to face reality--Sonic's
friends are robots and Robotnik has all of the rings. Robotnik tells
Sonic to join him, and his robots chant for Sonic to give up. Sonic
is confused and knows that something is not real. Suddenly the image of Uncle
Chuck appears and the image of Robotnik and the robots fade away. Robotnik
says something in gibberish and Sonic awakes. Sonic wonders about the contraption
that is on his head. Uncle Chuck explains that the medal Sonic received
had an artificial virus that sent Sonic into a virtual reality while he slept.
If Sonic had succumbed to Robotnik, Sonic would have been trapped in virtual
reality forever. Thanks to Uncle Chuck's invention, Uncle Chuck was
able to contact Sonic while he was in virtual reality. Sonic says it would
have been disastrous for Robotnik to win from "beyond the grave." Uncle
Chuck explains that Robotnik was not behind the attack, which makes everyone
wonder who was responsible.
