Chapter 3: The First Impression
"Hi, nice meeting you," Andy, the older one greeted.
"Hey, I'm Brad," the younger one said as he offered a handshake. Dianne was about to take his hand but pulled back when he said, "Brad Pitt." She wanted to laugh but it was hidden behind her smile. She shook her head and replied, "No you're not."
"Of course I'm not," Brad said. "And that's why you didn't want to shake hands with me. It's because I'm not Brad Pitt, isn't it?"
Dianne raised her eyebrows and said nothing. How could he read her mind? It was true that she didn't accept his handshake because he admitted that he was Brad Pitt when he wasn't. His looks was in fact far below Brad Pitt. "Well, nice meeting you, AB!"
The teenagers laughed in response. "Hey, she called us AB!" Brad told hs brother; Andy gave no reaction.
"Well, shall we go?" Alicia's father asked. "You guys can talk more on the way," he told the youngsters. Then they all climbed into the van. The dads were sitting on the front of the van. And the moms were on the second row of the seat. Alicia's brothers were behind them. And the girls were at the very back of the van. Alicia tried to convince her brothers to sit in the back, because she said it wasn't fair.
"Girls can get dizzy in the back of the van. And by the way, guys are supposed to let ladies choose first," Alicia told them.
"But you're still girls, not ladies. Hahaha!" Brad said, and his laughter was obviously hurting his sister. Andy's expression was constant. He didn't laugh or smile, or move his head in attention to his siblings. Alicia was about to punch Brad when Dianne said, "It's okay, Alicia. I'm fine sitting here."
"What? You really don't mind? They..."
"No," Dianne interrupted. She smiled and gestured Alicia to sit down beside her. Brad gave an 'I win' look at his sister, but she ignored him. Dianne
would mind if it were some other trips. But at that time, her position in the van was perfect. She could see the brothers' features from the back.
As the van was on its way to their first destination, Dianne rarely talked with Alicia. She was mostly looking at people walking down the streets. She was thinking of Alicia's brothers. She was confused why the brothers made her think about them.
What a contrast their personalities are, she thought. Andy was mostly calm and silent. He didn't really show his  expressions. It looked like he was a serious type of guy. He didn't talk much with Dianne. All he said was hi, nice meeting you. While Brad was laid-back and chatty. He talked too much for a first introduction with Dianne. It appeared that he had a sense of humour. But behind that there was a serious side in him that he didn't want to show. He could read what Dianne had in mind, and that surprised her indeed.
She was wondering which one of them was cuter. Her first impression when she was introduced to Andy was that he didn't look cute, especially when he showed no expressions at all. But when she stared at him, for a moment he did look a bit cute. He wore casual clothing that day, and that suited him and his personality. She imagined of Andy carrying books with him. He seemed very serious and calm. She was thinking if his books were his best friends. Speaking of books, she was wondering if he was smart and intelligent.
On the other hand, Dianne thought that Brad wasn't cute at all. She remembered when he told her that he was Brad Pitt. She wanted to laugh so badly, because his facial features were only 10% of Brad Pitt's --
no, he's not that bad, she thought. Well, his facial features were 20% of Pitt's. He was wearing a T-shirt that says I'm Cool at the front. He also wore grey baggy pants and a pair of white New Balance shoes. With the way he dressed, he did look cool as the writing printed on his T-shirt.
Alicia waved her hands in front of Dianne's face before she awoke from her day-dream. "Oh, sorry. What's going on?" Dianne said when she realised what Alicia was doing.
"Aha! You were staring at AB from behind, weren't you?"
Suddenly Andy and Brad turned their heads towards the girls. Brad smiled a cheeky smile. While Andy -- as usual -- wasn't smiling, he didn't look angry either. "Yeah, you were staring at us, weren't you?" Brad asked.
