The Ji species is an averagely used race. They do not possess any massively overpowering specialties, however the unique traits they do have make the an interesting race to play. The Ji are able to colonize planets at half the normal resource rate. This is extremely useful in the middle and endgame of the new 10,000 star galaxies, as when one reaches 200+ planets the price for the next planet is very steep. In this way Ji can continue to produce ships while also colonizing planets, unlike all other races that at certain points of the game will need to stop producing ships for days at a time in order to afford to colonize all captured planets. Also the Ji race has a very good start to most galaxies, as they will be able to colonize more planets than any other race early on. Of course an individual's start is very dependent on luck as well, but with the Ji race, the average start will be better than any other race. Reseach for Ji is very simple and the start follows the same pattern as all other race research strategies. However in the midgame and endgame of the galaxy the Ji research does not change to specialize in any one particular field, in this respect they are similar to Sirnef. Economics dominates all researching in the beginning of the game, with military techs being researched only after a decent economy has been generated.

| Military Techs are defined as Beams, Fighters, Hull, Shields, Engines and Sensors. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Ji ships are very basic without much in the way of variety from other races. This would be the normal ship of the line for a Ji player. It is a run-of-the-mill ship that can be used for a variety of needs: from battling ships and conquering planets to retaking lost planets and complimenting an allies swarm fleet. The ship itself is at tech level 15 for all research, normally one can get there before major fighting occurs so this will be the main design utilized. A heavy carrier has a total of 23 slots to utilize: 4 for Hull, 3 for Engine, 2 for Shield, 6 for Sensor and 8 for Fighter weapons. It is important to note that while designing ships to make sure they are from speed 27 and up, so as not to slow down more high tech designs later in the game.

With the introduction of fleet makeup bonuses it has become necessary to build a variety of ship designs. Therefore the Ji who uses carriers will also need a squad of cruisers as support craft. These cruisers are designed for two things: limited minesweeping and as fodder for enemy attacks. Hence their weapon is beams with decent accuracy, but their main assistance is the massive amount of hull and shields they provide to the fleet as a wall of protection for the carriers and their firepower. A heavy cruiser has 19 slots, all of level 15 technology: 4 for Beams, 4 for Shields, 4 for Sensors, 3 for Engines and 4 for Hull. As with the Carriers the speed of such ships should not be lower than 27 speed.

As with the cruiser it is better to have a mix of ships in each fleet. This heavy assault carrier has two uses. One is to be in a fleet of cruisers and carriers to add its bonus. The second use of this ship is in a fleet of its own coupled with a few Ji Gateway ships. With the second use the species ships add an accuracy bonus to the assault carrier and allow this fleet to better pick off stealth and evasion ships, which although rare are present in each galaxy. A heavy assault carrier has 29 slots, all at level 15 technology: 9 for Fighters, 7 for Sensors, 3 for Shields, 5 for Engines and 5 for Hull. As with all other ships, its speed should not be below 27.
