Claudia awoke to the dark again. She felt the ground around her to see if Nina was there but she was gone! Claudia got up on her feet and frantically searched around the bush where they had slept but she was no where to be found.
"Nina, Nina, where are you?!" ,Claudia cried frantically.
She stopped to listen and she heard a far off voice somewhere to her right.
"Over here Claudia!"
It was Nina.
Claudia shouted again, "I can't see you! Keep talking so that I can get to you!"
Claudia ran half blind in the dark trying to find Nina. Nina kept yelling at Claudia so she could find her. Claudia ran towards the light that they had seen last night. Then, Claudia ran head first into Nina. She fell onto the dirt and looked up but of course she couldn't see anything.
She heard Nina giggle, "You found me."
Claudia didn't think it quite as funny, "Nina why did you leave? You shouldn't have run off like that." Nina stopped giggling, "It wasn't my fault! That boy told me to come here. You see, I'm close to the light."
Claudia was confused, "What boy?"
Nina shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know. He didn't tell me his name. He just told me he would lead me out of the dark and I don't like the dark Claudia and I wanted to leave so he lead me here when I heard you call and when I turned around to tell him to wait, he was gone."
Claudia smiled, "Nina, he probably wasn't gone, you just couldn't see him in the dark."
Nina shook her head, "No, he was gone. I called to him and everything and he didn't answer."
Claudia grabbed Nina's hand, "Well, lets go and maybe we can find him. He must be very nice. Did you speak to him?"
Nina shook her head again, "No, he was too far ahead of me."
Claudia and Nina continued to walk in through the dark. The light got brighter and brighter as they walked. Claudia walked side by side with Nina. When they got so close that they were almost engulfed in the light, Claudia ran face first into someone, or something and was knocked quite off her feet.
