Grandpa borrowed
"Olympia's" bicicleta for the day. "Olympia" is our name for the handyman
at the hotel. He was talking to Mom
one day, (...well gesturing, as she doesn't speak Spanish and he doesn't
speak
English). He was varnishing the bricks with Olympia paint, and seemed very
proud that they were using the best - "Olympia!" Dad said he rode around
and did some exploring, but wanted to head off down the highway.
It was
rather narrow, and quite a long hill, so he came back earlier than
anticipated. The kids and I headed off to Barra.
Christy is looking for
"board shorts" and Jeff bought sunglasses from the same guy Christy had
seen yesterday. Same price. Christy bought me the bracelet I had been
eyeing as a birthday present! What a sweetheart.
I wanted to find Luis to ask a few quesions about our trip to Tenacatita on Monday, but he wasn't there. I went to the shop where we had left a deposit and talked to a lady there, who didn't speak very good English. I wanted to make sure there were enough life jackets for everybody (9), and to ask if Luis could pick us up in front of our hotel in Melaque instead of taking the bus to Barra, leaving from Barra, and coming right past Melaque anyway. She said, yes, No problem.
We hopped the bus back home again, and had lunch at Las Palmas. Pozole
today. Then on to the pool.
This laying by the side of the pool is becoming kind of addicting. We even
saw an iguana right by the pool today.
The
kids just love it, and must admit, so do I. Mom likes her spot in the
breezeway where its nice and shaded. She meets lots of people as she sits
there reading or doing her puzzle. People figure she must be lonely, and
come to talk to her. She's always meeting somebody new.
Finally it was 4:00 PM and Bob and Cindy and Stacey and Kelsey arrived!
Cold cervasas all around, with fresh limes from the tree by the pool. The
girls headed for the ocean. They all look so pale! Amazing what a week
in the hot sun will do to the shade of your skin.
Cindy and I sat on
the beach, and Bob and Dad went for a walk. They ended up at Cesar y
Charleys for 2 for 1 Happy Hour, and when they got back we were all ready
to go for supper. Went back to C y C for supper. Cindy and I had
margaritas (2 for 1) and just had a Wonderful Time! We walked home a
few hours later, and pretty much right to bed.
Tomorrow Greg will be here! Time now.... 9:00 PM. All is well. All is wonderful in Melaque hoy!
