Many natural disasters are weather related: flash floods, hurricanes and other storms, land slides all are caused by severe weather. Weather observations, forecasts and early warnings provided by the National Meteorological Services are therefore vital for modern societies.

Learning modules on disaster preparedness:

The International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (Latin America and the Caribbean) (ISDR) has in its Kids and Youth section stuff on disaster preventions, different kinds of hazards, risk maps, family plans for disaster preparedness.
