Our Wedding will have a Medieval theme. Rondell and his best friend / best man, Garry, will be riding two of our horses dressed as Medieval Knights (1300-1450) of European History.   My best friend / Maid of Honor, Melissa, and I will be dressed appropriately in costumes of the period, and we will be ridding aside. The men will ride in first, dismount and wait upon the ladies. The ladies will ride in from the opposite side, and stop by the men.  The men will help us dismount and the horses will be lead out of the way by the grooms.   We'll approach and stand before the minister who will be in the middle of the Pavilion floor.  We will then begin the traditional Medieval Wedding vows.  Medieval Wedding vows start with a short introduction Which usually happens outside of the sanctuary on the porch of the church.  In this instance, we will recite the first portion in the middle of the pavilion floor.  Once we've complete the first part, our attendants and the preacher will proceed us as we walk to stand at the alter and complete the ceremony.
The Wedding Party
The wedding party will be quite small.  There will be the groom, Rondell and the bride, myself. The Best Man will be Rondell's best friend, Garry.  The Guys are fascinated with swords and armor, the Medieval connection.  The Maid of Honor will be my best friend, Melissa.  Both she and I are equestrians, and have a fascination with riding sidesaddle, hence the horse participation in the wedding.

The officiate , Rev. Rex Brooks, is the uncle of our dear friend Jennifer Lowry-Kamentz. He is a semi-retired UMC Minister who lives in the local area.   Rondell and I had the opportunity to break bread with him at Thanksgiving this year.  Real nice guy.

Since part of  the wedding party will be horseback, we will need some Pages to hold the heads of our horses during the ceremony. Our Pages will need to know something about horses, so there is a limited number of individuals who can do this job.  Upon careful consideration, we decided to enlist the aid of  the Meadow Muffin's, the Rohan Riding Academy Saddle Club.  They've been charge with three equally important jobs: helping us with the horses, helping serve the food, and childcare.  They are all looking forward to the job.

My Sister-in-law, Karen Hansen,  has graciously agreed to provide music for the ceremony.  Karen plays the Clarinet (she majored in the instrument in college), and will be offering several selections from the period.  It is always a good thing to professional musicians in the family, though helping her find music to play has been a challenge.  Thank God for the Rennstore.com. :-)

The photographer will be my dear friend Gene Keenum.  Several of his photographs can be found elsewhere on this site .   We will also have a videographer at the wedding, a friend of Rondell's named Joel.  We may also a couple of video cameras to our friends and edit the best of their footage together.  At any rate, there will be a video of the event which we will play at the Wedding Feastival for all of those that were not at the Wedding.   I'll post pictures here once the deed is done. :-)
Here are some images of the types of costumes that Rondell and I will be wearing.  He is my "Knight in Shining Armor" and I'm his Lady. :-)

Of course, the rest of the wedding  party and guests will be appropriately attired in period costumes. The wedding will be held in a tent so we do not have to worry about the weather.  After the ceremony,  the entire wedding party will be going on a trail ride.  Due to the limited space and a few other factors, we are limiting the total number of attendees (wedding party, guests, and officiate) to 50.  Yes, this will be a very private and small ceremony.  After the wedding ceremony, we will have a Medieval Feast with two courses made up of four or five dishes for dinner, with plenty of good conversation, laughter, and  appropriate entertainment between the courses.     Then Rondell and I will be off on our Honeymoon. ;-)

However, we do want to celebrate our union with All of our extend family and friends, so we are also planning a Wedding Feastival Reception to take place sometime the following months.
