Alphonse Elric is Ed's younger brother. He does know some alchemy, but is not a state alchemist, which let's him do things Ed can't. He is the nicer, more understanding of the two brothers and often get's his reckless brother out of trouble.

Roy Mustang is a state alchemist, like Ed, who specializes in flame alchemy. He has acheived a rank of Lt. Colonel by his prior acheivements during the eastern Ishbal war. His power resides in the fiber-synthetic gloves he wears, which have a transmutation circle on them. At first glance, Roy is nothing more than a cocky, surprizingly intellegent guy, who would like nothing more than to see a girl in skirts, but he's actually more than he appears.

Riza is Roy Mustang's Subordinate, acting as his advisor and aid. She's the one who kept him in line on his steady rise up through the military. She is a First Lieutenant, so she can talk back to Roy without any concequences. Riza is very skilled in the use of firearms and always keeps her cool. However, she is secretly feared by her peers.
