Information - On FullMetal Alchemist

Inu-Yasha and KagomeFullMetal Alchemist is the story of two brothers, Edward and Alponse Elric, who lived in the small town of Rozenville with their mother. Both boys were talenting alchemy, or the transmutational process in changing a substance into another substance of the same value. Their mother was very proud of both boys, and thought of them like their father, who was also a talented alchemist who had gone on a journey and never returned since.

For months without the boys knowing, their mother had been suffering an unknown sickness. Maybe a 'concequence of the two brothers practicing alchemy?' During her final moments, Ed and Al stayed by her side. Al, to stricken with greif, didn't talk and watched their mother slowly fade, while Ed tried to keep her going, by talking to her. She gripped both boys hands tightly the whole time, proof she was hanging in there. "Edward, would you transmute something for me? Yes I know, a ring of flowers would be nice. You see your father always used to make them for me..." The boys stayed through everything, and stayed even after their mother's grip had loosened and grown cold.

Poor Ed and poor Al. Ed was especially furious and blamed his father for his mothers death. They used some money that their mother had left them and paid for a teacher to teach them serious alchemy. (Guess who >>;;) They went through all their fathers old papers and books and tells Al that they are going to try human alchemy to try and bring their mother back to life. They etched the "transmutation circle" onto the floor. Human alchemy, as in any other kind of Alchemy, has the equivalent rule, the rule that "You can't gain something without sacrificing something else of the equal value." The Elric brothers placed the pan of particles needed to make a human in the center of the circle. The final step they took was to put one drop of blood from each of them into the mix. "Once you take away the myth, it's just the spark the creates life" They kneeled by the edge of the circle and the outside of the circle brightens. The brothers become excited as the substance in the pan changes and begins to move. Both brothers hoped the shape that would form would be their late mother, but something went terribly...terribly....wrong. The light changes from a golden color to a dark, evil violet and the wind picks up speed. Lights and test-tubes shatter and papers fly around the room as the circle begins sucking Al in. Ed too is being effected. The substance in the pan is attacking him, eating away at his left leg. "ni-san!" Al screams as he is being sucked in, reaching out with his right arm. Ed reaches out with his arm and never reaches him. (I'm not giving away spoilers so I'm not telling what happened between then and when Al next woke up. (I don't know for sure anyway...something to do with the gates of alchemy.))

When Al awoke, he looked down at his hand....it was different. His brother, Ed, had sealed his soul into a suit of armor in order to keep him alive. "Ni-san!" he cried as he saw his brother, with one leg and arm, moaning from terrified pain on the floor, "I'm Sorry Al. There wasnt much time. I used my arm as material in a transmutation for your soul.quot; Al carried him off to the Rockbells house, hoping their neighbors could help them. Thus, they had failed failure.

3 years later, the Elric brothers are quiet well known. Ed became a state alchemist at the age of 12 and both he and his brother are searching for the "Philosophers Stone." This legendary, shapeless stone is said to be able to create anything from nothing and is their only hope to get their bodies back to the way they once were.
