Bulletin February 2006 - Nadaraj Anantha Margam
The birth of Nadaraj Anantha
Margam was in the evening at about 7.30 pm,
under the auspicious thithi of chathurthi,
the 11th day of March 1989 at the residence of Jothi Manoharan, No:
16, Jalan Anggerik 32, Taman Johor Jaya, Johor. It was
agreed with a formal resolution drawn out by a handful of ardent religious
personalities. In principle, it was more of a religious institution that
enhances various sect of Hinduism. Like Ganopathyam, Gaumaram, Saktham, Vaishanavam
and Saivam. With each subject a curriculum of selected slogam, stothras and kavacam were
prepared. Mantras were the main itinerary of the entire process in the Margam.
However the group was still in its infant stage.
During this period our Ashram received
its recognition from the government on the
30th August 1995. The Margam moved into the outskirts of
the town in Plentong hosted by Madam Meenatchie and
family. They provided a semi wooden bungalow house as remuneration to the
teachings of Hinduism. On the 23rd
May 1994 we planted a flag post and hoisted our Ashram’s flag to
harvest the knowledge of wisdom. It is the usual practice of our Ashram to
change the flag at the end of the waning day ( amavasya )
and full moon day ( pourami )of different color background either yellow or red. A lamp
was ignited and the members hailed the Maha mantra Aruttperumnjothi thaniperum karunai.
Members were educated with Saiva Siddhantha philosophy, particularly to
those of Tamil knowledge. Thevaram songs of the four great Saints besides
thirupugal, thiruvasagam and thiruvempavai are recited at occasional religious
functions. Above all the reciting of the Arutperumjothi agawal was the main aim
to glorify our guru Thiru Arutprakasa
Jothi Ramalingam.
On every Sunday evening a kalasa
pooja is hosted in the Ashram. The kumba is set by mixing with the holy waters
of Ganga together with fifty one herbal ingredients. The
presiding deity of the day’s pooja is applied with sandal wood paste. A coconut
or a sea shell is placed according to the day’s thithi and Natchatra upon the
instruction of the Guruji. Other function like the matha Siva rathire, the
chathurthi is part of the pooja that Ashram observes during a month besides
other major functions of the Ashram. We will elaborate upon these in the coming
bulletins. The entire work is done by one of the devotee, reciting the mantra kalashiya
mugeh Vishnu. The rightful
slogan is usually uttered with devotion by means of archana.
The purpose of performing this kumba pooja is to cleanse the area and to invoke
a wave of spirituality to harass the doubts in devotees into a settled
philosophical skepticism.
The present guruji had placed the
lotus feet of the guru parambara in the Ashram for members to render their
prayers with the verses from Thiruaruttpa - aadiya patham mandradia patham
followed by the Sanskrit stothram - thaara -_threithaya kumaare... The Ashram practices the bilingual
system of teachings in Hinduism to propagate Vedanta study to its devotees.
Salutation to the patham was observed from the days of Lord Ramah. His brother
ruled the kingdom of Ayothiya
with Lord Ramah’s patham until Ramah’s coronation day. The Hindu mythology
offers great respect to patha pooja. Almost in all Ashram, the Guru’s patham is
seated in the abode beneath his holiness photo. The urge for worship through
service to all fellow beings is the impelling force behind this rare appeal, by
which one’s arrogance, pride and ego is diminished and the wave of
brotherly-hood sways into every individual mind. In Chidambaram Lord Nadaraja
points his finger to his raised foot and beneath his other leg, he is stamping
the arrogance of an egoistic monster. This is to inculcate in the devotees mind
that arrogance and egoism are deviating elements to ecstasy.
If one follows the teachings of thiru Arutt
Prakasa Bramanandha Jothi Ramalingam, he is bound to reach the goal by the
grace of God.
