| Spring 2002- Tsuruoka Park and the Cherry Blossoms. |
|
I am currently the
ALT for Tsuruoka Chuou (central) Senior High School. My school, a
semi-academic school, is only 4 years old and houses about 850 students
and 80 teachers. I live in Tsuruoka, a great town, with my husband,
Erik who is also an ALT in Tsuruoka. Before teaching in Japan, Erik
and I lived in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee where I taught English for three
years at the J. Frank White Academy. I graduated from Lincoln
Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee with a B.A. in English in 1997
and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction in 2000.
I was born in Tampa, Florida where I lived
until about 9 years of age. My family moved to Tennessee, then to
Perry, Georgia where I attended Middle School and High School. My
father, and his wife Shirley, and my older sister Sharon and her family
still reside in Georgia.

| My favorite hobby
is spending time with Erik. We met in college and were married on
the campus June 13, 1998. Besides this pastime, I love trail
running, road racing, hiking, backpacking and many other outdoor
activities. I also love to read, which I have fortunately been able
to do a lot since being employed by the Japanese government. I have
also been thoroughly enjoying writing about my experiences here in Japan. |
| Spring 2002- Oyama Park near Tsuruoka has about 30 KM
of trail including many to the top of the mountain behind me. |
