I've been thinking of having my own homepage from long time ago. Even though I
was helping to manage the homepages of Applied
Research Lab and the Chinese Student Association of my
previous school. Sometimes, I'll think of myself as too lazy to start working on something. Till
the summer in 2001, after knowing more and more friends of mine had their cyber home already, I told myself that it's really the time to do it.
So far, I've had quite a simple life - being a student. Born in China and brought up by my grandparents, I had most of my elementary and HS education in Canton, China. It's a big city with millions of people and tons of vehicles, bicycles. Some people say it's too crowded and with such bad environment pollution. However, I love it for which it's my hometown and has so much of my memory there - my childhood, my family, my school, my friends
...
Four years of the college life passed so quickly. It was I who made the decision
of the college when taking entrance exam. I just didn’t want to leave the
place I love. I was riding my all-black motorcycle to college most of the time,
busy with earning money for my tuition all the weekends. I knew I was different
from other students in China. Just
because I want to depend on myself after HS. I knew I could do it.
Under the encouragement
of my great uncle from Taiwan at NYC, I applied for graduate schools in the
United States. Then I came here for study. For me, it’s a good experience to
study abroad. I can see, feel and get to know something new to me. In December,
2001, I got my Master of Science in applied mathematics from IUP. Now I'm taking
concurrent Ph.D. program in statistics and M.S. in computer science at Syracuse
University.
